TAKE THIS WALTZ

Actress-turned-director Sarah Polley follows up her first feature, the critically acclaimed AWAY FROM HER, with TAKE THIS WALTZ. After working with some of the world's greatest directors, Polley - one of Canada's most intriguing leading ladies - steps behind the camera crafting some of cinema's most poignant and honest films about love.  TAKE THIS WALTZ is part of our continued look at female filmmakers this summer.

"TAKE THIS WALTZ is frank, erotic, often very funny and sometimes startling, with an underlying tragic sensibility."
-Andrew O'Hehir, SALON

"TAKE THIS WALTZ confirms Polley as a serious, intelligent talent."
-Catherine Shoard, THE GUARDIAN

When Margot (Michelle Williams) meets Daniel (Luke Kirby), their chemistry is intense and immediate. But Margot suppresses her sudden attraction; she is happily married to Lou (Seth Rogen), a cookbook writer. When Margot leans that Daniel lives across the street from them, the certainty about her domestic life shatters. SHe and Daniel steal moments throughout the steaming Toronto summer, their eroticism heightened by their restraint. Swelteringly hot, bright and colorful like a bowl of fruit, TAKE THIS WALTZ leads us, laughing, through the familiar, but uncharted question of what long-term relationships to do love, sex, and our images ourselves.

Directed by Sarah Polley. Rated R.
USA/Canada, 2012, Digital Projection, 116minutes, Color, English.
