CHRISTINE VACHON: 30 YEARS OF MAKING KILLER FILMS

The Bill Cosford Cinema is pleased to present a new film series for the new year -- CHRISTINE VACHON: 30 YEARS OF MAKING KILLER FILMS. The series beginning Saturday, January 9 and ends Wednesday, February 10 with a visit from indie producer Christine Vachon. Celebrating Vachon's 30 years of making films and the 20th anniversary of her production company Killer Films, founded with Pamela Koffler. Over the last two decades the New York-based Killer Films, formed in 1995, has evolved from outsider to a counter-voice in the mainstream film zeitgeist without sacrificing its independent streak or integrity. One of the most consistently daring and adventurous productions companies operating today, Killer Films has come to define the American Independent Cinema and the New Queer Cinema. This tribute samples from some of Killer Films most significant films including STILL ALICE, BOYS DON'T CRY, ONE HOUR PHOTO and FAR FROM HEAVEN among others. Vachon will be at the Cosford Cinema on Wednesday (February 10) with more details to follow. Vachon will be at the Cosford on Wednesday, February 10 at 6:30pm for a screening of FAR FROM HEAVEN on 35mm. A Q+A will follow the screening looking at Vachon's work as an independent producer of films such as KIDS, FAR FROM HEAVEN, and this year's CAROL. This screening will be free and open to the public. Vachon will be on campus for several masterclasses and discussions with UM Students and faculty.
